COVID-19 Careful Day Camps
What we are doing:
Following guidelines as published by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and Community of Christ.
Monitoring the situation, and communicating with families and guests.
Limiting program capacity and adjusting activities as needed to remain in compliance with health orders and guidance.
Checking the temperature of all participants upon arrival, and requiring all participants have a temperature below 99.4 degrees.
The following COVID-19 questionnaire will be required to be completed at check in:
Have you experienced any of the following symptoms in the past 48 hours:
- fever or chills
- shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- muscle or body aches
- new loss of taste or smell
- sore throat
- congestion or runny nose
- nausea or vomiting
Requiring masks for all participants and staff when social distancing is not possible.
Creating a program designed around outdoor spaces, and limiting all time spent indoors.
Increasing our sanitization protocols. Program spaces and equipment will be sanitized between each use.
Creating camp programs that are fun and meaningful for our campers and staff.
The safety of our campers, guests, and staff is of great importance. We thank you for your trust and support.
Youth camps sponsored by Community of Christ in the Michigan Mission Center are planned to allow opportunities for all youth to make lasting memories as they experience a peace-building community, while enjoying nature, fun, fellowship and friends. Campers develop as disciples through worship, learning, relationships, and adventure.
Community of Christ Campgrounds in Michigan are licensed and inspected by the local health department, the fire marshal, and the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The camping programs are licensed and inspected by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). All youth camps are staffed by individuals who are Community of Christ Children & Youth Workers and pass both a state criminal background check and child abuse registry clearance.
The Michigan Mission Center is committed to providing youth camps that offer an inclusive and welcoming environment for all campers, staff, and volunteers. To live out Community of Christ enduring principles, which uphold unity in diversity and the worth of all persons, efforts will be made at all youth camps to accommodate all participants regardless of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender identity, age, national origin (ancestry), ability, or sexual orientation.
